Pros

1. Flexible timetable: You set your availability and holidays. 2. Profile promotion options: You can pay a little extra to promote your profile more visible or share it on social media. 3. Never had any problems with payments. 4. You have to teach through the Classgap app which at times can be glitchy (e.g. other student's camera's do not with with the antivirus, or there is no sound). 5. You can select the price you are willing to offer, as well as discounts for specific students. 6. The support was usually responsive and helpful.

Cons

1. This company does not provide any teaching material 2. There is a strange algorithm which determines which teacher's profiles are being promoted. (Some months I received 10 new interviews from students a week and then nothing for 2 weeks) 3. Timetable is very flexible for students too, so they can book and move and rebook classes if they do not attend with no penalty. (Many students have booked and cancelled or rescheduled at the last minute). 4. Not enough students available to make this a full time job (and most of the students are from Spain only) and the peak hours are 18h00-21h00 (Spain Time). 5. No benefits really. This job does not provide any form of job security, any perks, advance your career prospects, they would not give me a reference letter, you have no contact with co-workers etc.

A company to avoid

Pros

It is easy to set up your profile.

Cons

Their platform, that you must use, is glitchy and often does not work. You are not allowed to use another platform (under the guise of protecting teachers against fraud and abuse), so if the platform does not work you are expected to reschedule the lesson. Basically, you lose money because you are not paid for that lesson, and the students get annoyed because their lesson does not take place on the date and time they requested. When I argued this point after a student who was on a strict timescale was unable to access their platform, I received a highly insulting email form them. I withdrew my profile as a consequence. I over 20 years of teaching, I have never been treated so badly.
