The mission is great and if executed well the idea could leave a lasting impact on three generations of vulnerable populations.
Cons
Director level staff make decisions on a whim to hire people they think are nice but the job actually doesn’t work at all for them. Then they provide zero oversight to staff resulting in many people taking advantage of the company and hardly working. Meanwhile, the ED has zero insight to finances of the company resulting in hiring a bunch of staff that the company couldn’t afford to pay or didn’t have the infrastructure to support. The company says it’s all about the community they serve but largely disregards everything they hear from the community. Dismissing it as seniors complaining… but their whole mission is to give them a voice and make them feel seen. If they wanted to truly make the community feel seen then maybe they should put some children/parents/seniors on the board, rather than a bunch of rich people. In reality, management doesn’t want the board to know that the mission is only being carried out by the small minority and the company is largely functioning as just an affordable housing complex instead of this stellar community they portray to funders. The employees are told in meetings that they are like a family… ugh another company telling you they are family then laying off staff without so much as a severance or acknowledgement of mismanagement of funds. Yikes. They tout diversity but have an invite only DEI team. So many red flags!
