Pros

Great mission, seemingly good during the "honeymoon" stage

Cons

There is no HR department. Management discusses HR related issues with staff. No leadership or direction on job duties - instructions change on the daily. You cannot win. Management discusses all of your flaws, personal and professional with every other employee, who will turn on you until they become the next target - AND THEY WILL. You will be berated and eventually ghosted until you have no reason but to quit. Non-stop staff turnover. BEWARE. They are great rescues out there who want to save animals with no drama - please go find one.

Pros

No longer having to work under the dictatorship that is the founder and president of the organization.

Cons

As many of the reviews state, the founder and president runs the organization like a dictator. From non-stop ruthlessly cruel emails and phone calls to employees, to emotional abuse, the job was so unbearable I had to quit, which is one of the best decisions I have ever made! The rotating door of employees is a clear indicator of what a mess the organization is. It is no surprise that they make everyone sign NDAs, a constant threat held over employees - AT A NON-PROFIT!!! Although the mission is fantastic, the execution lacks immensely as a result of horrible management. As a former donor (tens of thousands of dollars) and mother of BFP beagles, it is such a shame to see BFP fail because of the founders ego and greed. Their care and love for animals is overshadowed by the awful founder and horrific management. It is such a shame, but thankfully there are so many other organizations with the same mission at a much larger, more impactful scale. Be warned, working at BFP is an absolute nightmare and I would not be surprised to see the company shutter soon.

Pros

I don’t work there anymore.

Cons

Unfortunately so much potential for good animal advocacy is lost due to the chronic mismanagement, dysfunction, and sometimes outrageously unacceptable behavior of the president and founder. She manages staff with the mindset of a 13 year old mean girl from the Valley. She’s moody and navigates the organization using, not rational thought, but instead her wildly fluctuating emotional compass. Staff are demoralized and always walking on eggshells trying to predict her mood and not do or say anything to upset her. She spends very little time in the office working or paying attention to what is going on which leads to poor communication, misunderstandings, and unrealistic expectations. She tends to hire friends and plays favorites but then eventually everyone takes a turn in the hot seat, where she may fly off the handle screaming or demeaning a staff member (often in front of other staff), at what is often a minor mistake that could be easily corrected. Good staff are suddenly fired or quit after they just can’t take it anymore, creating constant turnover and instability in the org.
