      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at uberall (Berlin) in Jun 2019

      Interview

The whole process took almost 5 weeks. I was initially invited onto HR interview after pre-screening of my application. HR was very polite and asked me about my background. Then she asked me if i can write some code right now, which i accepted. She gave me a very simple task which i did in 5 minutes. Then she asked me to send the code back to her so that someone from tech department can look over. After that, i was invited for a technical interview with their technical team. We talked about my background, my current experience, my expectations and they showed me how their product works with tech stack. After that they gave me a task to code related to data structures problems. It was a live coding test. After the technical interview, i was invited for a full day at the company. Where i was given a task to design and code related to REST API design. It was a nice day to spend with them with a lunch interview and post day interview about my implentation and approach to solve the problem. The interview was almost 2 hours long with a team of 4-5 members from their tech departments. Over all the process was fast. HR was very friendly and communicative through out the whole process.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at uberall (Berlin) in Feb 2020

      Interview

      (1) A friendly video chat about my background, interests and expectations from the position. (2) Next was a live coding session, in front were two tech guys who asked me to implement a "Knight's game" and later asked questions based on that. (3) I implemented and got the code working and later answered few questions about implementation and approach. (4) Got the feedback form Recruiter, that one of the interviewer did not find my technical skills as required for a Senior role though I applied for a mid-level role. (5) I remember one of the interviewer saying that I wrote a generic code (which should be fine) and not the one with exact requirements. Though, I always thought generic code sounds a bit better, as it is re-usable and easier to maintain but this a highly subjective matter and the interviewer should NOT expect a developer to implement his/her own fantasies in the code!

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Knight's game: implement using Circular linked list and print the last knight standing.

Dear applicant, First of all, thank you very much for your feedback here at Glassdoor and you honesty about the things you have experienced in the process. There are some things I would really like to dive into with you, as I am currently not able to get all the details, especially about the feedback on the generic code and the role you applied for. I am fully convinced that there are always things that can be done better from our side and really like to have a conversation about it. My suggestion at this point would be to reach out via recruiting @uberall.com and we will try to figure out some more details if you are up to it. We as well might have a request to you: Providing more or less information about the "Knights Game" gives an advantage to other applicants now and it would be great if you could remove the details about this from your review here at Glassdoor. Just call it "coding task" or something like that. We would really appreciate that. Looking forward to get in touch with you, have a great day and most important in these times, stay safe and healthy. Your Uberall Recruiting Team
