HR interview
In person interview (Case study)
Super frustrating process. I went through the exercise of preparing for the case study but I hadn't heard back from the HR team in spite of a couple of reminders.
Its like they were looking for free consulting for their product line
Dont leave people guessing. If you're evaluating other candidates, let others know that this will take x days/ weeks. Be respectful of candidates. It's basic courtesy.

Interview
I was pleasantly surprised by how candidate-focused the interview and recruitment process was at ecobee. The team was transparent, accommodating and so respectful at each step of the way. By far, this was the best experience I've had with a tech company in Toronto (and a quick scan of Glassdoor shows a good experience is NOT the norm with startups in our city unfortunately). ecobee has clearly invested in building out an incredible experience for candidates. And it's appreciated!

Question 1
Standard and logical product management questions during each interview, with the tone being more conversational. We talked about my experience and how it would translate to this role. There was also an interesting case study assignment as the final step in the process.

Interview
Multi-step interview process, typical of most Product jobs.
1. Started with a call with HR. The HR team at ecobee is fabulous. They make you feel very welcome and seem to really care about their candidates.
2. Next, an in-person interview with a few members of the Product team.
3. Finally, a take home case study and an in-person presentation to more members of the Product team.
Fair process with two interviews and one presentation. Great communication on their end, they followed up very quickly and set expectations from the beginning. It was one of the best organized interview processes that I have ever experienced.
