The interviewers were inter personally kind, but the hiring manager was not on the same page as the recruiters. It took SO much longer than I was told it would take for them to reach a decision. I don't think people appreciate how perverse it is to keep interviewees dangling like this.
Otherwise, it was a 30-minute call with the HM. Then, about 3 hours of interviews with people you'd work with and people you wouldn't work with, but whose opinion for some reason informs or holds some sway over the way you're evaluated. This person, for the role I was applying , seemed to not really know that technical writers do. He yawned twice during the hour call and looked at his phone once. The approach the interviewer's took was more of a grilling one, rather than a 'Hey, here's who I am and what I do, who are you? Tell me about some wins, some challenges, etc.' Interviewer's who do this are betraying a real lack of care about who you are. Bummer.
