I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Zalando in Jun 2020
Interview
- 1h coding screening
- followed by 5 1h interviews in one day (team lead, coding, data science, talent champion, HR)
- interviews mostly felt ok
Specific pain points:
- during first interview I was asked to chose two topics to focus on during my DS/ML interview. Those two topics were supposed to be at least somewhat of a focus. In the end, they were only mentioned in passing
- logistics were kinda confusing. Some late replies, order and name of interviewers changed last day. Had to email to check which one was which.
- some of the questions felt too much like they were closed, or leading. The interviewers were expecting a specific answer
- I don't see the point of having 5 interviews in 6 hours. It was exhausting. I wasn't told these could be broken up into multiple days. Make sure to ask
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What is cross-validation?
Some algorithm questions (graphs, arrays etc.)
ML discussion with a focus on fraud detection
