I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Workday in Jul 2021
Interview
30 minute recruiter followed by a 90 minute, 2 problem Hackerrank assessment, and then a 45 minute hiring manager call.
Answered both Hackerrank questions. First one passed all tests, second I did a DFS instead of a BFS and got a timeout on a few test cases. I was scheduled for a hiring manager call afterwards.
During the call the hiring manager talked about how they have so many qualified applicants and how this position will need a lot previous knowledge, hard work, and focus, etc. Even at this early point in the call I had a bad impression of the hiring manager.
After the usual resume and job description she mentioned that I would need to do the Hackerrank assessment to move on to next steps. I mentioned that I did complete it already and she checked her email to find it. She spent 5-10 minutes looking at my submission in the middle of our call.
It's not explicitly stated, but they can see the time you take. I went slowly because I was confident I could finish in time, because why rush when I can leisurely finish the problems? Well, they will dock points off your Hackerrank if you use all the allotted time, so speed up if you care about working here.
Then she mentioned all the tech/languages I should be interested or looking into if I wanted to move on to next steps. I reiterated my interested. Afterwards, I got ghosted. I received no follow up email, no rejection email, nothing.
