      Engineer Interview

      May 22, 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Workday in Apr 2017

      Interview

This was a phone screen that was given by someone who is [hopefully] new to giving phone interviews. Within 10 ten seconds of getting on the call he launched into his list of questions, most of which were incredibly easy. However, the range of topics left me wondering what position I was actually applying for as some questions had no relevance to the job description. While the interviewer was nice enough, there was no engagement or personality. The call ended almost as abruptly as it began. It was a very bizarre interaction and I was OK with not moving the process along.

Was not very engaging and helpful with the candidate. Was given the technical question and the interviewer seemed bored entire time even when the candidate would ask questions and clarify their understanding on the solution.

      Engineer Interview

      Mar 10, 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Dublin, Dublin
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Workday (Dublin, Dublin) in Feb 2022

      Interview

Quite a negative experience Had call with recruiter. Then a call with the hiring manager. And then the following 3 interviews. All seemed ok and organised well After the final interview - so the 5th interaction and after speaking with 8 different people. There has been radio silence from Workday. Seems to be a common thing from what I’ve seen. I think it says a lot about a company that does such things. I obviously invested a considerable amount of time spread out over two weeks preparing, interviewing. Response from all the interviews was very positive from what I gathered. I think their interview process is broken. With a lot of wasted time on both sides. The initial scheduling of all 3 interviews I found was strange. As what happens if the first one is poor. You still proceed with the next two anyway. It’s a waste of time on workdays side. The interviews were fine. However they don’t ask questions. The questions that were asked were very general and not really good ones to ask as they were not particularly relevant to the role at times. And through all the interviews it was the same questions from time to time and just a lot of repetition. Also interviews occur extremely late. While I understand people are based in the USA. and if interviewing in Ireland this will be the case. But having an interview at 9pm Irish time is very poor. I’m sure there is people based in dublin who could conduct the interview. What annoyed me most was the feed back was I didn’t have enough experience. Which is fine and I understand. However this is something that should have been noticed at the call with the recruiter or at least with the technical interview which was the first one. So essentially the following two after that was pointless as I wasn’t going to get the job anyway. So I wasted my time. And the time of staff in workday. It’s a pity as I always wanted to work for workday. And the information from staff working there is that it’s amazing and the compensation and benefits seemed good. But I also got the impression that you worked hard for that compensation and benefits too. I probably wouldn’t apply again as it’s a lot of work to go through the full process. Especially in this day. I think if you need to conduct nearly 5 rounds to choose a candidate there is a problem.

General screen, followed by a coding challenge over the phone, and finally an onsite. At the onsite there were meetings with several managers, an architectural discussion, and two white board coding sessions, one of which I would classify as simple implementation, and the other of which was more algorithm focused.

      Question 1

A simplified variation of the skyline problem, and a maze problem.
