      Backend Developer Interview

      Nov 20, 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Workbase in Nov 2024

      Interview

I applied through Glassdoor and Indeed, and after submitting my CV, I was asked to complete a 16-personality test (though I’m curious about its relevance to the hiring process). I completed the test and was informed that my CV and test results would be reviewed. Shortly after, I was invited to an asynchronous interview with fairly standard questions. The process was smooth, with quick replies, clear instructions, and positive communication throughout, showing they cared about making the experience straightforward. However, I later received a rejection email stating that they decided to move forward with candidates who have more direct experience with the specific tech stack. While I understand that my profile doesn’t meet the exact experience requirements—they likely sought 2+ years of experience as a strong junior developer, whereas I have around a year with a different stack—this could have been addressed much earlier. If my profile wasn’t a match from the start, it should have been clear when reviewing my CV. I wouldn’t have spent time on tests and interviews only to be filtered out for something apparent upfront.
