I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Waitrose (Reading, England) in Sep 2016
Interview
Applied online and completed online testing, was invited for a group assessment two weeks later. At the interview was told it would last around an hour, which it did. First 40 minutes was a group team challenge, which involved coming up with a plan of action for a day of shifts. They can only give you marks on this if you talk so SPEAK UP! I found that for me this went quite badly as i forgot to read certain vital info. There were two other interviewees there who were both very nice and similar to myself. The last 10 minutes or so were spent doing a 1 to 1 interview. The manager was very nice and relaxed which made me feel a lot better, the questions were "tell me about a time you.." and there were 6 of them. Was then asked things about myself, e.g hobbies etc etc. Biggest tip is to be honest and think about what you're going to say, also interact with the other interviewees as much as you can. My interview was only one day ago but I've already been offered the job by email!

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Waitrose (London, England) in May 2026
Interview
I applied for a Supermarket Assistant vacancy for all SW London stores (If your applying for a London specific vacancy, please ensure you apply ASAP, they only keep the vacancies for London open for 24 hours max), an early application, is always the best application) I am very happy that I have been given an offer! This was honestly one of the best interview/application processes I've been through, everything went smoothly, and on a timely manner. I applied for the role a week ago, and the next day received an email to say I have been invited for an Interview. You then schedule yourself in for an Interview. Literally 2 days after the Interview, I was called and told I have passed the Interview, and they would offer me a vacancy. My best advice would be to research Waitrose' core values and behaviours, and also research company trends. I have put the questions below. Towards the end of the interview, they'll confirm your right to work, your availability, and your preferred locations.
