I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Victoria's Secret (Manchester, England) in May 2014
Interview
I applied online and about a week later I got an email saying they would like to have a phone interview with me the following day. The questions they asked me was fairly easy such as "Why would you like to work at Victoria Secret?" and "What is good customer service to you?" and then asked about your previous job and your experience. Then I got invited to a group interview which took place a few days later in the Assessment Center. There was about 10 other girls all around ages 16 - 23 and we were taken into this small room with two tables in and we could pick where to sit. On the tables there were bra's and other Victoria's Secret items such as the body sprays. At first we all had to go round and say our name and an interesting fact about ourselves, then we had to do a group activity with the table we were sitting on where we were given a scenario and we had to try and sell the products on our table based on it. My groups scenario was about a man who came into the store and wanted to buy a bra for his wife but he didn't know what size she was. Then after both groups gave their presentation we did a group interview in the same groups we were working in. So this involved the interviewer (there was two, so one for each group) to ask a question to one girl and then ask a different but quite similar question to the next girl, and so on. We were asked about 3/4 questions each. That took about 10 - 15 minutes and after that we had to do a 1 minute sales pitch where the interviewer took a random item out of a bag (mine was a bulldog clip) and we had to sell it to the group for a minute or less. Other items included a pencil sharpener, a pencil, a pen, a calculator, etc..
Overall the experience was quite enjoyable, the staff were really friendly as well as the other girls applying but if you are a naturally shy person like me, I wouldn't recommend it as they look for people that have a natural confidence, funny and stands out from the crowd.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Can you name a time where you received bad customer service?
Hiring managers prioritize your personality, availability, and customer service mindset, looking for candidates who are friendly, adaptable, reliable, and comfortable engaging with customers, rather than focusing heavily on prior experience or technical skills.
Very easy, first a phone call then meeting in person. Took a while to be seen in person even after the scheduled meeting time, they had me just kind of stand in a corner for a while waiting for someone to become available.
