Interview
I applied for a Frontend Engineer role in Sep 2025 on VectorShift through YCombinator. I got an automated reply the next day. I completed the assignment and submitted it, even though I knew I would be ghosted (I had read all the other interview experiences). I was just laid off on the same day I applied. So I just did it, even if it felt like a waste. I had to create a frontend and a basic backend, then record a video explaining the project and send it in via a Google form. After a whole month, I got a response for a behavioral interview for 10 minutes. He came and asked 4 or 5 behavioral questions, said we would keep in touch, and was gone. The behavioral questions seemed simple, but most likely they are just a formality or have some other criteria.

They prompt you to complete a take-home assessment and ghost you forever. Just search "VectorShift YC interview reddit" on google and see for yourself how they have the two roles opened for over an year and it seems like they only ghost candidates and never get back.
The interview process starts with a hard assignment, which will take you more than 2-3 days. I did that and submitted it and never heard back from them ever.
If you dont have time to get back maybe dont start with assignments. May you company get shut down you duo of losers.
