(All interviews were remote - applied during Covid-19 on Sep 11th)
I was required to do a Hackerrank assessment. There were ~7 questions. Can't remember now, but I think a few were MCQ and a few algorithm/data structure type questions.
Less than a week later I was invited to the initial phone screen. This was your basic get-to-know-you type call. I was asked about location preference, expected graduation date, technologies I know, and finally some behavioral questions ("Tell me about a time when..."). During this call, we also set up a second "initial phone screen" with someone more technical.
The second phone screen was with a technical non-recruiter person. They asked about my personal projects, about my current position, and some technical questions. Questions like "Why is software testing important?".
A week or so later I was invited to what I assume is the actual interview. A 4 hour session from 8:30am to 12pm. You're given a case study, basically a piece of paper with a real-world problem with requirements and you're supposed to come up with a solution. You have about 30 minutes to complete this before you start your first interview. 2 interviews total, 1 hour each, then the rest of the time, from 11 to 12, is them just trying to convince you to join Vanguard. Kind of pointless. First interview was behavioral, second was technical with a sprinkle of behavioral. The technical interview was question and answer format, but my interviewer was really good at unblocking my answers and keeping the conversation moving. No writing code during this part, but did have to solve an algorithm type questions - basically create a program to efficiently solve a Hangman game.
