Although the interview was scheduled several days in advance, the interviewer, Sam Dugan (CTO), conducted it from a truck on a farm in southern Ontario, where the internet connection was unstable. The call disconnected multiple times, and there were moments when I couldn't hear him or he couldn't hear me. I found this unprofessional and disrespectful, given that the interview was prearranged, and they had ample time to address these technical issues. During the interview, he posed a question: "At higher speeds, our motor fails to function properly. Do you have any suggestions?" I suggested adding weights to the system. In response, he said, "You know what we did? We changed our feedforward control to feedback control, and it worked." I was shocked, as feedforward isn’t typically considered a control method. I couldn't understand how they were even operating without any feedback to their motor. Essentially, it was just implementing a P controller with P = 1, and, that solved their problem. Mind-blowing that Control Systems 101 is working and the guy knew nothing about it! In the end, he rejected me, stating that I "do not have enough knowledge in controls."
