      Interview

I applied for the role through their official website, and within a day, I was contacted by HR and assigned an assignment. The deadline was to complete it within five business days, which I did. The assignment itself was ambiguous. The information and links provided were not very helpful, so I had to conduct my own research and learn the platform from scratch. This was time-consuming. There were two tasks involved, both of which required significant effort. While similar in nature, they were not repetitive and required separate analysis. In addition, I had to create a Loom video and a supporting document, making the overall assignment quite elaborate and time-consuming. The instructions and guidance were not clear, and most of the direction pointed back to their help documentation, which did not fully answer the questions. Even in the comment sections of the Loom videos, responses primarily redirected candidates to the help site rather than providing direct clarification. After submitting the assignment, I was informed that the team was “actively reviewing” applications and would reach out if I moved forward. However, this was different from the initial communication, where it was stated that feedback would be provided regardless of the outcome. This inconsistency was disappointing. After spending a significant amount of time, approximately two days—on the assignment, I followed up after a week but did not receive a response. Overall, this was a very time-consuming and frustrating experience. I would urge companies to be mindful of candidates’ time when designing take-home assignments. While I understand that not every application will be successful, a basic level of communication and closure should be maintained when candidates invest substantial effort. Initially, there was a promise that feedback would be provided regardless of the outcome, but this was not followed through after submission. This inconsistency in communication was disappointing, as it did not align with the initial expectations set. At a minimum, candidates should receive a clear response after investing significant time in the process.
