I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Toast Inc in Sep 2019
Interview
Quick call with the Recruiter who said she would pass my resume to the hiring manager. A coordinator responded with an email of times for me to select to do the technical screen and I responded with five days of times. No response, and then after my final day of availability, the coordinator emailed back and asked me to select times in the two following days. I picked one and then they set up the tech screen. Not the smoothest process, even though the recruiter (like many these days) talk a good talk about how they can speed up the process if need be. The coordinator specified nothing regarding the format of the tech screen, but it was through a hackerrank type of site. Two interviewers showed up, a Principle engineer and a Senior. The tech screen was some light questions about past work and then some coding. First two were easy. Reverse letters in a word. Reverse words in a sentence. Third one was reverse words but keep punctuation in place.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Reverse words in a string but keep the punctuation marks in the same order. "Hello, world!"would end up being "world, Hello!"
Leetcode style 1 hr technical along with 1 hr behavioral with pretty standard questions. Interviewers were both really nice and hardest part of technical were the follow-up questions but the interviewer was very helpful.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Toast Inc (Dublin, Dublin) in Apr 2026
Interview
I scheduled a first round technical interview. Recruiter emailed 2 days later saying position filled. Very disappointing. Phone screen was good descriptive and helpful. Shoukd of flagged rolling hiring. Was for junior engineer role.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Toast Inc (Bengaluru) in Mar 2026
Interview
Overall, the interview experience was good, with questions ranging from a moderate to slightly challenging level. There were a total of four rounds, and the difficulty progressively increased with each stage. The initial rounds focused on fundamental concepts and gradually moved toward more in-depth problem-solving and advanced topics in later rounds. This progression allowed for a structured evaluation of both core understanding and the ability to handle complex scenarios.
