Interview
I have great respect for companies that provide clear and constructive feedback after interviews—regardless of the outcome. This is one such company, and their professionalism truly impressed me.
The first round focused on my past work experiences and how I handled critical projects. I felt the conversation went well, but ultimately, they felt I wasn't the right fit.
Still, I'm grateful for the opportunity and the thoughtful feedback—it speaks volumes about their values.

Interview
The interview process was structured and included multiple rounds, focusing on both technical expertise and alignment with GFI's mission. The initial stages were engaging and provided a comprehensive understanding of the role and expectations, there were 2 extensive assignments that helped with this.
During the final round, I inquired about performance metrics and what defines a high performer in the organization. The response from the Managing Director was, "We are a nonprofit; we don't look at performance." This statement was unexpected, especially given GFI's emphasis on impact and effectiveness in its public communications and donor appeals.
Organizations, regardless of their profit orientation, benefit from clear performance metrics to ensure mission alignment and accountability. Effective performance evaluation is crucial for continuous improvement and achieving organizational goals.
Additionally, when I asked about the strategic vision for the role, I was directed to existing online materials without further elaboration. While GFI's public resources are informative, I anticipated a more personalized discussion on how the role contributes to the organization's evolving strategy.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
There were a list of questions being asked, and the team stuck to those, which felt odd given the level of engagement you would expect at an executive level interview. The team made it rather confrontational and purposefully kept it from taking a conversational tone and I was constantly being rushed when answering with "we have a lot of questions to go through"

Interview
Absolutely ridiculous, and completely wasted my time. Multiple rounds of interviews and making me complete a 15 page assignment (I've got a full time job, mind you), leading me on (every email of theirs to me complimented my skills and knowledge) and then ghosting me with a "hiring freeze". Could have just told me that upfront instead of wasting so much of my time and energy, particularly in the lengthy assignment. Pathetic experience
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The assignment made me write an article, research a company, develop two plans, write personal essays about my career and personal decisions, etc. This involved a significant amount of time spent on research and writing, for which I was not compensated. The interview questions were quite stunted, mediocre, and generic - felt like the questions were pulled off a Google search like "questions to ask a candidate". The interviews were one dimensional, and felt superficial. The interviewers were literally reading the questions of off a screen.
