I went in for 3 onsite interviews after a phone screen, which was conducted directly by the manager. After spending 4 hours each on the first 2 onsite interview, they had shortlisted 3 candidates including myself. Instead of making a decision after such lengthy onsite meetings, they went ahead and had the 3 of us do what they called a 'working interview'. As a recruiter, I had never heard of such a thing before, but foolishly entertained the idea and went in and worked for an entire day. Although they paid me for the day, it was a very unnecessary exercise. The interview process itself had raised several red flags, but out of desperation for a job, I played along. Little did I realize that this was just the beginning of it. I eventually got the job, but needless to say, throughout my time there, the same type of unstrategic and unnecessary waste of time that I was subject to during the interview process was similarly evident in the management style within the company in general after I started. Please save your time and efforts for a company that actually respects it!
