      Executive Team Leader Interview

      Feb 2, 2012
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Target in Jan 2012

      Interview

So I received a phone call at the end of December 2011 and was told that my resume was found on Monster.com. I was asked simple questions like past work experience and if I had a 4 year degree... The recruiter asked me if I could interview the following week at a location nearby. She asked me to fill out an application and do a Test within the next few days. (The test is not easy! Lots of Math). So next came my interview.. I first interviewed with my recruiter, 5 questions all found on this site. Then she liked me so I interviewed with the STL (Store Team Leader). I choked at this interview (five questions again) but she liked me so I interviewed next with the DTL (District Team Leader). This was again five questions. This was all within two hours so I was mentally dead. Well that went well also.. I really enjoyed speaking with everyone and it was a great experience. The DTL said I would be hearing within 7-10 days for the results. I sent a Thank You note to the recruiter and DTL as soon as I got home saying thank you and that it was nice meeting them. I didn’t have the STL email address but would have sent her one if I did. So days went by and heard nothing. I dreaded opening my email afraid that I would get the rejection email. On day 9 after the interview I emailed the DTL asking my status and I didn't receive a response. On day 11 I emailed my recruiter and she emailed me right back saying the STL was going to be "connecting" with me soon. On day 15 after the interview I received a call from the STL and was asked if I could come in for another interview the following week... So 3 weeks after my initial 1 on 1 interview I had another. The STL was super nice and told me that she wanted to interview me for a lower position and if I would be interested. I told her yes and went on with the interview with one of the ETL's in the store. Truthfully I was hurt but I’m glad I was given the opportunity to interview again and not received that reject email. I interviewed and the STL asked if I would be ok with a certain $$ amount and I asked if she could go higher. Two days passed and I was asked to come into the following week for HR stuff. I was given more money and was given a drug test packet to take within 24 hours. So yes I was hurt that I went in interviewing for an ETL position but ended up with a lower position. I figure I already have a degree and I could always use my Education degree later on or advance in Target after I get my feet wet. I am excited to work with the STL because she seemed like a genuinely nice person and that’s hard to come by in management. Also I studied this site like crazy, so I suggest that you rehearse questions and answers and have some EXCELLENT stories to tell! Good Luck!

I applied through university. I interviewed at Target (Charlotte, NC)

      Interview

It was a two step interview process. Personable and you are able to interview with not only your direct managers but theirs as well. Provides transparency into your new team. My interview was virtual because I was moving to the area, but I'm sure they do in person for local folks.
