      Marketing Specialist Interview

      Jan 19, 2012
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Target in Jan 2012

      Interview

Initially had a phone screen with a recruiter, then a phone interview with a 2nd recruiter. Then was asked by a 3rd person to complete an IQ test followed by a personality test. Then was offered a final one on one interview by a 4th person, and was given an interview pre-prep...(yeah you're probably thinking WTF is that right?) Finally at the one on one interview with the department manager, the person didn't really seem to care about anything I said from the beginning all the way to the end. It seemed like by the time they got to my interview, they had already made up their minds on someone they interviewed prior. I was scheduled for a 40 min interview and was out the door in less than 15. It didn't really matter what I said throughout the interview, this manager just wasn't interested. And so after thinking about what had happened, I thought if they were interested enough to bring me to this final stage, they should at least show some interest or at least pretend? Overall, this manager was not very professional when it came to interviewing. Throughout this entire process I must have spoken to and emailed between 5-7 different individuals. Some were very helpful and friendly while many were just uninterested, and this includes more than just the manager who interviewed me one on one. Also, I was told while leaving the facility that my file will now be taken over by another person and they will be my contact from now on....so how many employee contacts am I at now?? I think Target needs to reconfigure their recruitment and selection process because this has been the most unorganized one I have participated in.

Great experience everyone was really nice and made me feel comfortable interviewing. The process was pretty fast and I was not waiting a long time for a response on what the next steps were for the role.

A phone screening interview was scheduled first. It was a fairly short and standard phone interview. The next interview, phone as well, was with Human Resources which was fairly straightforward as well.
