      Senior Manager, GRS Proposals Interview

      Jun 6, 2012
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Toronto, ON
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Sun Life (Toronto, ON) in Jun 2012

      Interview

The initial phone screen was by appointment. Spent 20 minutes going over my background, WHY I wanted the job, a discussion of a role that seemed to be a little different than the rest (I pointed out the similarities in terms of function and expected results and this seemed to please her). It was a thorough phone interview, and the interviewer seemed intelligent and knowledgeable about the role. I say this as I had one phone interviewer recently who didn't understand the role beyond the bullet points on the job spec. The difference is immense, and even if not me, I'd say the hiring manager will be presented with some good candidates to choose from.

      Question 1

The phone interview was the hardest. The hiring manager knew right away my background was perfect for the job. So, the hardest question was answering why I wanted the job, which was asked in phone screen & manager interview. A simple question, but since this job might be seen as a "step back" from my previous experience, it had to be handled excellently well.

      Question 2

Hiring manager: How did I handle stress. Would I want another role delivering this much stress?
