I applied as who wouldn't be curious about an IT company named SugarShot? Turns out the name doesn't have a great story or anything like that, seems like someone wasn't feeling creative the day they came up with that...I think a Marketing person would shudder at the disconnect.
I had to do one of these dumb questionnaires which is kind of a red flag for me as I after putting time into the application I would like a chance for a human conversation to know if I am even interested in participating in further steps such as questionnaires, tests, etc. I have limited time and would not want to waste it if I decided I wasn't interested in the company or working with the people there. But I did the questionnaire and then got a confusing message asking me to complete the questionnaire, so I send a message saying I was confused why I was getting another questionnaire message after I had already completed it - disorganized.
Eventually an actual interview was scheduled and it seemed like the conversation in the first interview was going well, no I KNOW it was going well as it went over the scheduled time which only happens if they are interested.
So at the every end I find out that there is also one of these personality/work style 'tests' Here's a thought employers, list all the steps in your process in the Job Posting! If I had known this was going to be one of these companies who bought these tests from a company that claims they are scientific, I would not have bothered to apply. The human brain/personality etc. are too complex for some algorithm that claims it can decided from a 40 min test if the good is a fit. For companies who buy into this nonsense I have swampland in Florida to sell you....
Thank you for taking the time to post as we do read all feedback here on Glassdoor. The story of SugarShot is available on our website and certainly available to read (click on the About pull down menu and then choose "Our Story". We wanted to come up with something that made people feel good, and made IT more approachable in general. In regards to our interview process, we've found personality profiling hugely beneficial to ensuring we get the "right people in the right seat on the bus" so to speak. Again, appreciate your time and candid feedback. Thank you.
