      Certified Onsite Technician Interview

      Nov 19, 2014
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Staples in Nov 2013

      Interview

When I initially applied to work at staples, it was October 14. When I got my first interview, it was November 20. (My interview went maybe 7 minutes and I waited another week and a half to hear "you can start tomorrow" (AFTER calling everyday to make sure they hadn't lost my application a third time -see below-.) When I started my first day, it was December 2. So to start, they care not about helping YOU: the employee. Secondly, the hiring manager lost my *online* application twice. not once but twice. leaving me to waste two sets of 45 minutes to complete the application again, twice... This tells me the third party application system they use has either loads of issues which need troubleshooting and that my personal information (Social Security Number and Drivers License Number) could be floating around the internet with only god knowing who can find it. Now, as a professional IT/IS Technician, this is already starting to look downhill. Thirdly, they did not drug test me, nor did they submit any of their employees to a drug screening. This is appalling to me, as the town I work in is one of the heaviest drug trafficking areas in California.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The hiring manager had no tech experience whatsoever. he asked me questions along the lines of: "what would you say to a customer who asks you a question about the details of an item you have no clue about?" My interview went maybe 7 minutes and I waited another week and a half to hear "you can start tomorrow" (AFTER calling everyday to make sure they hadn't lost my application a third time.)
