I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Solu Technology Partners in May 2023
Interview
Screener call, then a review of the benefits offered, then multiple online assessments, one for math & logic, another for role-specific skills (java), and another for behavioral analysis, then an interview with recruiter where they ask questions and record your responses for review, then a take-home project (I spent roughly 10 hours of effort, but someone with more experience with the tasks involved could likely cut that in half or less could easily double it). Next was a 2 hour interview with multiple lead engineers that involved some coding exercises and then a review of the take-home project. I would say the experience with the recruiter and developers was top-notch, exceptionally grounded and friendly people there, but the asymmetrical effort at the beginning required by the applicant was a rough pill.
Thank you for providing information about your interview process. Feedback is important to us and are always looking for ways to continually improve. We apologize that you felt it was an asymmetrical effort; however, we use various tools to help us understand candidates' general problem-solving and technical skills to get a complete and balanced picture of the skillsets of potential employees. We’re happy to hear you had a positive experience with our recruiter and developers.

Interview
1) 15 minute phone screen 2) 15 minute programming quiz 3) 45 minute fake IQ test 4) 30 minute series of personal essays r All of those steps are just to be put into Solu's system, meaning they are prior to round 1 of interviewing with an actual employer, which would have its own (potentially long) interview process. It is unnecessary, insulting, and potentially discriminatory to use fake "cognitive tests" that have no basis in science to screen applicants for a job.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The fake IQ test had a number of tasks that were clearly derived from the GRE, like "estimate the sum of these two large numbers". None of these tasks had any relevance to software engineering.
Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback with us; we're sorry to hear this was your impression of our interview process.
We value finding talented individuals from a variety of educational backgrounds and experience levels. We use various tools to help us understand candidates' general problem-solving skills, which allows our team to identify standout employees with less technical experience while providing a complete and balanced picture of the skillsets of those with more time in the industry. We welcome you to contact our team if you wish to learn more about our process and the result of your application.
