I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Slack in Aug 2015
Interview
The first interview with their recruiter was great - he was friendly, asked good questions and provided good guidance on the process.
The follow-up interview with the hiring manager was....less than great. She was stand-offish, distracted and abruptly ended the interview at 30 minutes without any warning or guidance for what follows next.
I'm pretty sure it was that second interview that sealed my fate.

Interview
I applied online and the response was quick! The first phone call was from the recruiter with a standard Q & A. The recruiter was excellent! Second phone interview was from the hiring director and it was lacking polished professional qualities. The call started out typical discussion of niceties and job experience but fell flat when third question was if I had any questions. I came prepared with about eight questions regarding the position, what they were looking for, and their current process. The hiring director's responses were close ended resulting in a one way conversation. Attempts to have a more engaging conversation were difficult. It left me interviewing her with very few places to highlight my skill set or ideas for their current procedure. I asked her about this interview process towards the end and she responded that her decision was based on the questions the candidate asked. While that can be part of a valid hiring strategy, I would recommend providing candidates with at least a handful of open ended questions to give them a chance to highlight their abilities. Perhaps asking follow ups to their questions could be worked into the current interview process. :)
