I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Shorthand (Sydney) in Oct 2025
Interview
The first step was an initial 15-minute call and general questions about the past experience, expectations of the role etc. The next step was a take-home assignment where they ask you to build a multi-step form in React/Typescript with certain acceptance criteria. Then over a week there were 4 interviews with different department representatives, on average 1h each. Interviews were based on STAR format questions, mostly behavioural/situational. There was an opportunity to ask questions during those interviews. After that they email you the outcome.

Question 1
Describe an experience where you failed a teammate at your shared task, how did you handle it?
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Shorthand (Brisbane) in Mar 2025
Interview
15 minute screen, then two take-homes. First was creating a React frontend interfacing with an existing 3rd party API, second is writing a short article using the platform on any topic. After the take-homes, 4 stages of interviews, each interview around an hour long. Interviews were mostly behavioural questions following STAR with a bit of systems design. Overall roughly 9 hours altogether including time spent on the take-homes.

Question 1
Tell me about a situation where you were working in a team, but a team member did not complete their part properly -- how did you handle it?
Was a long process but enjoyable, didn't get the position but they were professional throughout. Just wish it was shorter than it was, it was more than 5 rounds if I remember correctly.
