I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify (Vancouver, BC) in Dec 2020
Interview
First interview - easy
Technical interview - difficult.
Technical interview was unnecessarily difficult.
Without any training they expect candidates to perform as if they were experienced in the role.
Found the unsuccessful email rather condescending.
Unless you’re really into Shopify or e-commerce don’t even bother applying. Waster of time.
Hey, There!
I’m sorry to hear that the interview process with Shopify didn’t go as you had expected. The interview process is meant to get to know you as a person as well as get you familiar with the type of work you would be doing in the role. It can be lengthy and challenging, but by the end we will know if we are a good fit for each other.
The Life Story portion of the interview with Shopify is designed to be conversational and open-ended. We want to learn about you as well as have you ask questions about Shopify. The technical portion of the interview helps us assess skill level. It is more of a role-play to get you familiar with the type of channels and challenges that you might encounter in that role. It can be rigorous because we are looking to see how candidates handle deadlines under pressure, how your thought process works and how you maneuver through challenges.
Thank you for the feedback. We are always looking to improve the interview process so I will be sure to pass this along to our team for you.

I interviewed at Shopify (Portsmouth, South East England, England)
Interview
The interview had multiple stages. All pretty simple and forward. I think I had at least 3 stages and one of them was show how would handle 2 chats in one time
drawn out, very long winded and in the end wasn't worth my time. the questions were misleading and interviewer seemed very uninterested in what they were saying. would not inspire anyone to want to work for the company

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify (Dublin, Dublin) in Feb 2022
Interview
Starts by email with a few questions regarding relocation then a first interview that is general, a second is like a simulation for the role. Pretty intense one with handling 3 cases at the same time for different problems.
