The HR stage was smooth and the team was responsive in scheduling. The technical interview had a noticeable good cop / bad cop dynamic between the two interviewers, and the role was described differently by HR and the technical team, which suggests internal misalignment. The interview itself felt unstructured and questions seemed improvised rather than prepared, which made it hard to know what they were actually evaluating. One interviewer lit a cigarette at the very start of the interview, I guess as a sign of how "relaxed" they are, but it read more like a power dynamic than a welcoming gesture. They also asked about my age in a way that felt irrelevant and out of place. To be clear, the issues above stood out independently of the outcome or my performance. Please, align on what the role actually is before interviewing candidates. Have a structured process, because improvised interviews reflect poorly on the team and waste everyone's time. Keep the interview environment professional... first impressions cut both ways.
