I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Ross Stores (Norfolk, VA) in Sep 2013
Interview
I got a call back for the interview several weeks after I applied. During the phone call, the manager misplaced my application and couldn't remember what I was applying for, my name, or any other important info.
During the face to face interview, the same manager laughed after looking at my resume before getting started on the actual interview questions (I work full time already for a pretty good company), and asked me flat out, "so you just need extra money or something?" I was completely thrown off by the attitude and the rest of the interview went down hill from there. I mean did I need to explain to her my life story and why I needed a second income? No! I stayed professional and answered everything appropriately to show that I would be a good fit no matter what. Alot of questions were off the wall and inappropriate (things you're NOT supposed to ask during an interview) so I really should have declined the offer a week later. Unfortunately I accepted and then quickly learned two weeks later that I should have high tailed it out of the interview when I could.

Question 1
Why Ross? Are you ok with minimum wage? So you just need extra money or something?
Basic interview, they aren't super competitive when selecting employees. Just seem eager to work in a team setting and try not to toot your own horn too much and they'll hire you.
They did a group interview where you had to answer questions on customer service and experiences. The interview was simple and wasn’t long, they would call you after a few days to let you know if you got the job.
