I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Polycam (CA) (Los Angeles, CA) in Feb 2026
Interview
The recruiter was personable, very nice, bubbly. She was wearing a baseball cap (which apparently I'm not allowed to, can we all wear baseball caps?). The interview went well, and then out pops a surprise tech exam. In the 1st round. With a non-technical recruiter.
So as if there aren't enough tech exams in the interview process already, now we have somebody neither understands the questions nor the answers asking a tech exam, as if it was a modern sport that everyone should have a crack at. Like a mechanical bull at a bar, insert coin here, ride the developer!

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Polycam (CA) (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2025
Interview
The CEO interview was strange and unstructured. He spent most of the time talking about his personal life and interests, rather than the company or role. When I introduced myself professionally, he seemed confused, as if expecting a personal life story. He then abruptly asked a “trick question” about their pricing model and dismissed my reasonable answer. The experience felt disjointed, unprofessional, and left me questioning the company’s leadership approach.

Question 1
"This is a trick question": What is the philosphy behind our pricing model?

Interview
Jacob Sandlund took my interview. They asked me to create a node js application which store and fetch data. I have created the docker application and invoke node application from outside docker which get and fetch data. Not sure what they wanted. One thing I did he had question was why I am using ubuntu instead of node image. The reason being to install required software from base image and cook accordingly than grabbing from internet. Other than that I have the working solution developed from scratch . He didn’t asked me anything about terraform and we still had 15 mins
