Interview
My interview began a few minutes late without acknowledgment, and it seemed that my resume hadn’t been reviewed in advance, as the first part of the conversation covered basic background information. The subsequent questions did not align well with the technical aspects of the role, and the process lacked clarity about the evaluation criteria. There was no initial recruiter screen, and the interview felt more exploratory than structured. I later withdrew my application but still received an automated rejection email afterward, which suggested to me that the process may be highly automated. In my opinion, the experience did not reflect a strong understanding of the position’s technical requirements.

Interview
Interview process was alright and just what I would expect from a start up. Started off with a screening call with HR/Head of Legal to run through typical recruiting questions. I was then invited to their office in Fremont for a 3-hour panel interview. It was a bit messy which again, expected from start ups as small as these. It seemed that they weren't as prepared with the interview questions either and had to scramble to find another interviewer since the original one wasn't available. A lot of the questions revolved around building out processes for the current recruiting workflow as it looked like they did not have much set in place. During the interview, I was also able to get a tour of their EV RV which was the one cool thing I took away from the experience.
After the on-site interview, I was supposed to have a meeting with the head of HR/Legal the following day, but was ghosted as they were putting out a fire. I had then asked for availability to reschedule to which they unfortunately were not able to get back to me til a week or two later. They ended up redirecting me to a senior recruiter who recently joined the team and who ended up doing an impromptu interview to run through my background and asked similar questions as my first screening call.
After about another week of not hearing back, I followed up and was unfortunately not selected. All in all, lots of run arounds which is typical for a small company such as this but was also appreciative that they still shared their decision to not move forward vs keeping me in the dark.
