      Sales Representative Interview

      Apr 9, 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Houston, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Paycom (Houston, TX) in Apr 2019

      Interview

The first was with a recruiter, then a manager, then a regional VP. I did a second interview via GoToMeeting with the manager again since she was “too busy” to do the video interview we had scheduled the first time. After that they finally had me come into the office for what was supposed to be a two-day process of a ride along and then a phone canvassing session. they pay offer at this job is quite lucrative so I understood why they might have such a large regiment of interviews. Two days before I was to head out of town for the interview they tried to reschedule the first day. They ended up just cancelling my first day ride along and just had me come in for one day. finally, when I got the office for my in person meeting I had to give a presentation and then phone canvas to get three appointments. they got me started late but I still finished early with my three appointments. About two and a half hours in they had another candidate come in to interview at the same time that I was phone canvasing which felt pretty unprofessional. After I got that done I spoke with different members of the sales team who were all nice enough and very insightful and didn't sugar coat the job at all, explaining just how hard it is and how little work life balance there is. Undeterred I was still excited since I am not one to shy away from hard work. finally, I went in to speak with the hiring manager one more time where she basically explained that there was no way they were going to hire another team member straight out of school even though they had done it in the past and started going off about how she had fired people despite the fact that they worked as hard as they could etc. I was disappointed by the things she was saying, and it honestly just ruined the whole experience for me. They used hours of my time and for no reason since they had obviously ruled me out prior to actually coming in to the office. Seemed at the end like I just got used for free labor to set some appointments. Terrible experience, I wouldn’t recommend at all.

Quick, easy zoom call. Overall pleasant experience. Did not get an offer, but the recruiter was very kind and helpful. There are several interview stages; I did the first two.

      Interview

They make you take a whole day off work to come in and make cold calls for them. These calls are unpaid labor. They attend the meetings you book and still won’t offer you the job.
