I've actually interviewed at this company twice.
The first time, I walked in, and noticed some empty offices and even boxes in the hallways. "They're a small business," I thought to myself. "Maybe they just moved in, or they expanded, which is why they're hiring."
I was directed to a small corner conference room, where I made polite small talk with the hiring manager and took two tests. Afterwards, we spoke about the position, shook hands, and I left. I thought it went really well.
A few days later, I got an email from him, which not only said they were not going to hire me, but also that I did not have the experience or was not qualified to work at the company at all. (This was an entry-level position. I have an MBA.) It really came off as quite angry, and all he had to say was, "We are going in a different direction" or "We found someone who more fits our needs." But I suppose that given he does work for a recruiting firm, I should be impressed that at least he got back to me, and didn't ghost, as most recruiters often do to me.
The second time, roughly a year later,I spoke on then phone with another hiring manager. The company was apparently divided into two teams, and I was interviewing with the other team. We scheduled a face-to-face interview.
I walked in. I noticed the same boxes as I entered, and the same empty offices. I sat in the same small corner conference room, took the same tests, and even felt my cellphone vibrate at one point -- I later found out it was a recruiter from this company, literally in the same office, calling me about a position she thought I would be a good fit for.
My post-tests interview went really well again. I even got to speak to another manager, who seemed really interested in hiring me. I sent a thank-you letter, and a few days later, I had lunch with both of them.
I never heard back.
I don't know how this company functions. I don't know if the teams talk to each other or share information or if anyone there "knows what the other hand is doing." It was a tad odd.
