Well, I'll tell you. I was scheduled for a phone interview, did my preparations for the interview in the 7 days preceding the date...and the interviewer never called. A friendly email to him to tell him if he needed to reschedule brought back a response to reschedule the next day at the same time, no explanation or apology. He never called the next day, and, again, did not proffer an explanation or apology.
This has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I've completely lost any desire to be part of what appears to be a great company with such an important mission. I've been advised by an HR professional to not fire off a letter to the guy's boss in order to avoid potentially blackballing myself in the future with any of those people I may come in contact with later. However, I'll just wait for the usual email that comes thanking me for my interest, and that other candidates were a better fit, and then respond with a message that starts out "This is a little awkward, but..."
I wish better luck to the next candidate for the position. Hopefully, you'll draw someone who is professional, or at least has the good business sense/courage to tell his or her boss that they don't want the task to interview someone, instead of blowing off a candidate.
