      Business Development Representative (BDR) Interview

      Mar 24, 2022
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Oracle

      Interview

Super great interview process. Difficult but well worth it. It was about a 3-week process from start to finish. It begins with an email from a recruiter in the location you applied to. You will submit a form explaining location preferences, availability, and why Oracle. Then there will be a pre-screening call from that recruiter with fairly basic questions although I would prepare still. Some asked were about how prior experience led to sales and NetSuite, basic "tell me about yourself", when was a time you failed, and explain in detail. The second round is an intensive group interview via zoom where there is a manager panel, day-in-the-life BDR panel, and a 60-second pitch where each candidate (there were about 15 of us) has to explain their background, why sales, and a funny anecdote or something to be remembered by. Then you do a break-out room with a few other candidates and create a presentation about why you'd make a great sales team. After 15 minutes, you present to the managers and they will ask you to privately message them who is the least and most helpful out of the group. If you get to the third round, it is an interview with a manager or two. They will ask you basic questions but also try to make you prove why you're qualified or have the tenacity for the role. There was a mock sales call too. They asked what I'm passionate about and to convince someone to partake in it. It's intense but stay confident and have a lot of good questions on hand. I got an offer 2 weeks later

      Question 1

Why sales? When was a time you failed? How did you overcome it? How does your background relate to this job? What motivates you? What will drive you to keep going even if you get hung up on or people don't answer your emails?

      Easy interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Oracle

      Interview

Was very straightforward, considering it is targeted for post-grad. Mostly centered about your background and fit, why you're interested in the role. It was couple of behavioral interviews, nothing more than that.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Oracle (Dublin, Dublin)

      Interview

Three stage interview. For the screening call you must explain BANT as the go-to qualification framework and be able to explain it. Second round is with the Hiring Manager, Most applicants aren't coming from BD roles so if you're able to touch on any BD activities from your current role you're doing well. Years ago so not sure if mock cold call is a part of it but be prepared for that. Pace, pace, pace, lead framework and objection handling - echoing their concerns etc. Last round is with the Director above the Hiring Manager, Be able to charm them as most of the hard work is done by this stage.
