I applied through university. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual (Wall, NJ) in Jan 2010
Interview
Reruiter contacted me through college career services database. Setup a 1:1 interview where she asked me very basic questions. She was in a hurry to finish the interview and I didn't feel the need to give thorough answers. She explained the company and job very well and said she would send me an online link for sales/personality testing. My experience was neutral because I think the interview was so rushed my guess is everything is relying on personality test and the results of that and not so much about my interviewing/in-person skills. 2-17-10 Based on Exsel results, it is not recommended I pursue a career as a financial representative. They will contact me again in 6 months to retest. Interview lasted about 30 minutes.
There were four or five interviews, if you count the meeting with my future mentor. There were also a few personality assessments. Lots of paperwork. The finance industry is tightly regulated.
The first interview was easygoing and went fairly well. We talked a little on myself and what northwestern was all about. Because they wanted to see how I could fit in to their team and what I would bring.
I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual (Greenville, SC)
Interview
The process was smooth and straight forward. A lot of behavioral based questions, but relaxed and low stress. First phase is a phone screening followed by a teams or in person meeting.
