I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Nordstrom (Edison, NJ)
Interview
I have been on and off with Nordstrom with different departments. My first contact was with a Manager, who is a family friend, instantly asked if I'm available the next day. I accepted and showed up the next day early in the morning. She gave me a little tour of the department and the store until HR is available to finish the hiring process.
Other times coming back to Nordstrom, was basically a referral or knowing someone from within. Several would vouch for me on my work and duties and I would continue to work in any department who needed my skills and/or expertise.
Negative experience
Easy interview
Application
I applied online. I interviewed at Nordstrom (Durham, NC)
Interview
The interview took place during a hiring day. To begin, the email said to go to a different place in the building than the final location was. So, it seems they didn't double check the automated email they sent out to participants. Then, when I got there, they tried to discourage me from applying to a Stock role and asked me to interview for positions in Sales instead, stating there was a line ahead of me, so I shouldn't bother. When I finally did get an interview (for a sales position that paid well below my expected hourly wage), the interviewer seemed disinterested in anything I had to say. I withdrew my application. I don't recommend the effort especially at a wage that won't pay the bills without depending on commission. At that point, is it really the company paying you or the customer? No matter the state of the economy, there's no way, no how employees should be forced in a position in which they're not paid their worth.
Interview questions [1]

Very easy, respectful. They made it seem like they really care, even bringing the Building manager in to talk to us. I thought it was a very positive interview process
