I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Nokia (Montreal, QC) in Oct 2008
Interview
Interview was relatively straightforward, in two meetings.
First with Senior Engineering Manager, assessing fit, experience etc.
Second meeting with Director and Tech Lead. Most questions from Lead were to ensure I had the domain knowledge and experience required to manage this type of team.
While not necessary for this position, it helped that I was able to answer some fairly technical C/C++, Java and Mobile questions. I was also questioned regarding software architecture, and general mobile development.
Otherwise, all questions related to people and development management, in particular agile.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I was asked some questions about C/C++ memory management on mobile devices. Also, questions regarding Java class usage on J2ME devices, where using many classes could be very costly performance-wise on low-end Nokia devices.
While not necessary for a manager to know this, it might have helped my chances getting the job.
