Screening call with the Human Resources department
Technical interview with a senior project manager
Cultural interview with the human resource manager to see if you will fit in with the company
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Nevvon (Toronto, ON) in Jan 2023
Interview
Interview with a headhunter on behalf of the company. Quick job review and a 30-minute technical talk with the headhunter team to confirm experience and technical fit (technical details).
After that, had a technical interview with the CTO and a Senior dev. The next step was an interview with the CEO, followed by another one with the COO (30 minutes each).
Technical interview was a combination of programming principles, coding exercises, and system architecture. The total time for this stage was about 1h30.
The process moved quickly, around 7-10 days.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How would you debug a system incident in a given scenario (image with system topology provided)
I felt it was unethical and unprofessional. I was told explicitly by HR there would be no live coding under pressure (proven to be not realistic to an actual job or an effective way to hire), and I was lied to. They did it anyway and I immediately opted out of the interview.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They didn't ask any. They flew right into a pressured, unrealistic live coding scenario.
