      Account Executive Interview

      Apr 14, 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Perth, Western Australia
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at MuleSoft (Perth, Western Australia)

      Interview

First interview was with immediate manager - candid and conversational where we delved into my experiences, approach to selling and previous wins and losses in detail. Was what you’d expect from an interview at this level. Second interview with VP was clinically structured and one-sided. They wanted to know things like what my GP was for my undergrad which was laughable given that’s more than a decade ago and you’d think recent achievements would be better gauge of calibre. Walked away feeling they had no clue about the industry verticals I had previously operated in, and were jumping to conclusions by asking closed ended questions. I asked a few probing questions around how many reps had attained quota in the past - got some highly defensive responses around none over past 3 years and the quotas were unattainable but they had “fixed” them. No thanks! Recruiter was decent with their comms during the process - let me know I wasn’t progressing the next week after round 2 and they’d be happy to provide feedback. I booked a day/time with them, guess what? Ghosted.

      Interview

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at MuleSoft in Jun 2025

      Interview

I had an initial screening call with a recruiter who was very professional and recommended my profile to the hiring manager who is the Country Lead of Finland & Norway who lacked simple common decency. At the start, he told me he would only speak with me for 30 minutes and openly admitted that he had already formed a negative opinion of me. He said my interest in the team and technology came across as “desperate,” which I found both surprising and disheartening. Throughout the conversation, his tone felt dismissive and, at times, unnecessarily condescending. This was, frankly, one of the most unpleasant professional interactions I’ve had.
