I applied online. I interviewed at MicroTech (Vienna, VA) in Jul 2017
Interview
I applied online and got a phone call later that day. It was a phone screen with the recruiter. I was surprised to get a call so soon after applying. I was told that my resume would be sent to the hiring manager. Later that day, I got a call asking me to come in for an in-person interview. I got an email confirming the appointment; it stated that they were "very excited" to meet me. I was excited to meet them, too. I had the the interview 3 days later.
I was told I'd be meeting with one person, but found out at the interview that I'd be meeting with 3. That wasn't a problem, but I wish I'd been told that in advance. All 3 people were VPs at the company.
I was given a visitor badge and a folder with two sheets of glossy paper and the recruiter's business card in it. One sheet was a brief description of company benefits, etc., and one was a biography of the CEO. Both sheets should've been given to an editor before being printed and distributed. I found numerous errors. Just putting that out there.
The interview went well, I thought. I was told that they were interviewing a few other people and that a decision would be made the following week. The same day, I emailed everyone I spoke with to thank them for their time and restate my interest in the job. The following week came and went with no word, one way or the other. The week after that, the job posting was removed from the company's website. I still hadn't heard anything, so it was obvious that I wasn't getting an offer. I'm disappointed that I didn't get an offer, and I'm also disappointed that I never received an email informing me of that. Unless it was an oversight on someone's part, it shows a lack of respect for the applicant not to keep them updated on the hiring process.
