I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at McKinsey & Company (Istanbul) in Dec 2009
Interview
After the CV screening process, McKinsey Problem Solving Test was given to the selected candidates. The test was consisting of tables and graphs, couple of strategy questions and mainly mathematical calculations which are very simple. Time was the main issue in McKPST, the rest was easy. In every round there were 2 one to one interviews. In the first round, the main focus was on whether you have 4 skills of a consultant (explained on the web site) and discussions on CV was extremely important. You have to be prepared to discuss team work, leadership skills and conflicts that you handled very specifically. The cases in the first round was simple profitability cases, which are easy to structure and discuss. In the second round, interviews focused on cases intensively and discussions about past was very short. Cases were harder to solve and understand, mathematical calculations were important and there were several graphs to be analyzed. In the final round, the cases were nearly impossible to understand at a first glance and little help is given by the partners. Partners are very well rounded people, discussions with them helps you to understand whether you really want to be a consultant or not. Surprisingly, discussions about your willingness to be a consultant is done in the final round which was weird to me. I asked for feedback in each round (recommend everyone to do the same it really does help!) however I wasn't pleased with final round feedback which sounded so brief and generic.

I interviewed at McKinsey & Company (New York, NY)
Interview
Positive experience until the super day. The scheduling was quite long and they gave me a month's gap between my previous round and my final round. But overall everyone speaks eloquently and thinks logically. My interactions with senior partners are also very positive; they ask insightful, probing questions and were encouraging throughout the interview. I thought I smashed it, but one of the partners called me the other day and rejected me.
