The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Macy's (New York, NY) in Sep 2011
Interview
I waited for about an hour to meet with someone which was a bit annoying. The first woman I met with was the HR Manager and she seemed a bit disinterested in the interview process at first, but she warmed up to me as the interview proceeded. I was asked the typical interview questions like "why Macy's?" questions about my experience, and why I think I would be a good fit for Macy's. Then I got told to wait and met with 2 other department managers and was told that I would get a call when a position I was looking for was open. I was a little discouraged, but 4 days later I received a call and I am now working in the Polo Denim Department In Harold Square! Don't be discouraged if you have never worked in retail because this is my first retail job and I was hired, it's all about how you sell yourself!!
Was interviewed for a seasonal position. Was told they have no seasonal positions, once they found out I was a college student. Made no sense to me quickly ended the interview.
The interview process was straightforward and fairly quick. It started with a phone interview from a recruiter or hiring representative who asked general questions about my background, availability, and interest in the role. The tone was professional but conversational, and the interviewer focused on making sure I could handle a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
I had one interview with the store manager and it lasted for about 45 minutes. The interview was all standard behavioral questions. I was offered the job on the spot.
