      Network Engineer Interview

      Oct 14, 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at MacTech (New York, NY) in Oct 2017

      Interview

I have to admit I was a bit taken aback when I walked into New York location. They're located right on Broadway off of Houston, right in the heart of SoHo. When I went to the 4th floor, I found that they had no office space, but what was essentially a tiny loft/room with one long work bench which every technician sat/worked at. Once I saw that I knew this place wasn't right for me. Just know this going in ladies and gentlemen, this is quite literally 4 walls and a long table. Nothing more. The interview process was fairly informal. I provided copies of my resume to them (which they did not have prior to the interview) and we discussed some fairly basic topics such as my background, what I'm looking for in the role, etc. After the interview I was informed that they would have me come back to take a paper test/exam that would be consisting of multiple choice questions that would be covering daily scenarios that a technician at mac-tech would be dealing with on daily basis. While I appreciate their interest in having me drop in on such short notice, I'm going to be passing on the role simply because of the environment. I don't believe in working in such a space that literally has you sitting elbow to elbow with your coworkers. A turn off indeed. I wish them best of luck in their candidate search.
