      Customer Relation Home Delivery Interview

      Mar 12, 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Brisbane
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at IKEA (Brisbane) in Feb 2018

      Interview

{this is fairly long so get popcorn and a drink. Also i have not proof read this, so i apologise for the typos} It was a really quick and thorough process. I had two interviews before getting a call for a job offer. If there is a tip i can give, it would be to make a personalised and skill/experience specific (based on the skills on job ad) cover letter and ensure when speaking over phone that you are enthusiastic and show your personality. 1. Phone Interview: I was called three days after applying online on the ikea website. It was a chilled and layed back phone call. It was just so they can get to know you. I was invited to an interview straight after phone call. My tip to aceing the phone interview is sound enthusiastic and focus on customer focus answers. They want to know your friendly and you are keen to be challenged. They werent difficult questions, they were basic interview questions like: -Why do you want to work at ikea? - Tell me about your past work experience? - Tell me about a time you've dealt with a difficult customer? - What are you studying? (this was a specific qu asked because it was mentioned in my cover letter) -What motivates you? -What demotivates you? -what do you consider excellent customer service. 2. Group interview: I was intereviewed in a group of 13. We entered the room one by one so we could take our photos for reference to you application (if hired this will be your id photo). There were three tabels and we all split up in groups of 4-5 per tabel. -first we were welcomed and introduced to all managers -then we had to introduce ourselves to everyone and answer (what we wanted to do when we grew up? why do you want to work at ikea?) [try and make yourself stand out. everyone will say that their home is a showroom and they love their products. I said that sustainability and ikeas ethics are the reason for applying. find an ikea value that aligns with your values) -they did an introduction to what ikea is about and its values (pay attention because you will be asked alot about these. -then we were given a tour of the areas that we would work in -after heading back to the room we were given scenarios that could happen in store. In your groups you will present your answers. During this time managers will walk around assesing your team work. Be sure to encourage group members (eg say good job after interview or seeking approval from everyone) Tip: dont read off the sheet and speak confidently and use your prev work experience to asnwer these scenarious. ( scenarios given were dealing with customer who is waiting in line and needs to hurry to get child from school, a child has been left in smaland (childcare) and forgotten and what would you do if systems went down.) - Then we were ushered out of the room into the waiting room where we interviewed individually quickly (speed dating style). Questions that i was asked? -HAve you ever dealt with a difficult customer? -Where do you see yourself in 5 years/after your degree? -what are you studying? -what is your def of great customer service? - tell us a fun fact about yourself? - Based on the availabilities given is there any flexibility? 3. I was given a call the day after and offered the position. Then you will be welcomed in to sign papers and welcome (induction). Goodluck peeps! Tips: -All answer should be customer focused. -Also have a look at ikea values and use those in your answers -They arent extremely concerened in your experience. I was intereviewd with dozens of people who had way more experience and impressive jobs than me but I think they really are looking for someone who will fit the company culture. -I cant stress enough how important your cover letter is. Make a personlised and amplify the skills they are looking for. -walk into interview with enthusiasim and cooperation. They want to see you can work in a team. You need to be friendly and outspoken. However, dont be too dominant over our team players. - Be sure to say bye to everyone when leaving and have a smile. -BE very friendly
