This was a pretty average phone interview. The recruiter was welcoming enough, and the questions were as you would expect for a Learning and Development role. What was off putting, however, was at the end when I asked what the next steps were, and she told me that there was another candidate doing their onsite interview that day, and a few through the rest of the week, so she would reach back out if they didn't get an offer and pan out. Wow, way to make me feel valuable. She never reached back out, in case you were curious, so clearly they found someone. I understand the need to stack candidates for a role, but 1) why that late in the candidate cycle and 2) don't pretty much tell them that you're the leftover scraps. Horrible way to feel after a positive tone phone interview.
