      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Granify

      Interview

The interview process consisted of a 30-minute phone interview with two designers on the team. There were lots of questions, but nothing too difficult. Next, there was an assignment where I had to design and code a little pop-up/modal - The brief they gave was really clear and much more detailed than ones from other companies I've interviewed with. It also didn't take too long to make so it felt like they were respecting my time too by not giving me anything huge. After making it through that round, I had an in-person interview. Their office was in a co-working space and I was introduced to the team as soon as I got there which I thought was a bit unusual. Usually, that happens after an interview (if everything goes well). Their office was one tiny room with around 5-6 people squeezed in, although the interviewer said they were expanding to something bigger eventually. We went into the interview room and the interviewer hadn't offered me any water/drink - that's a pet peeve of mine as it gives you a chance to relax and collect your thoughts. Two designers were calling in via skype/hangouts, but couldn't get their camera to work so I had to conduct the interview to the in-person interviewer while they just listened in and watched us. It was kind of difficult when answering their questions as I had no one to make eye contact with. It was a bit strange that they could see me, but I couldn't see them too, but I guess technical difficulties happen. The interview lasted over an hour and I thought it went well, but a few days later I got told (via an automated email) that I hadn't made it to the next round. I believe the next and final interview would have been with an executive.
