After a pleasant initial phone screening, I was invited to a 30-minute video call with an engineering manager. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing and unprofessional.
From the start, the interviewer joined in a rush, spoke very quickly, and made minimal effort to introduce themselves or the role. I wasn’t given a chance to introduce myself or discuss my previous experiences, which is unusual for a professional interview.
Midway through the interview, the manager abruptly started asking technical questions that they didn’t seem to fully understand. It was clear they hadn’t prepared adequately for the session. Other reviews were spot-on: the interview was over in about 10 minutes, despite being scheduled for 30.
To make matters worse, I struggled to understand their pronunciation and asked for clarification several times. However, they made little effort to rephrase or explain more clearly, which only added to the frustration.
Overall, the lack of preparation and rushed nature of the process left a negative impression. This kind of experience doesn’t reflect well on the company or its culture.
