I applied for a mid-level Graphic Design role at GTHAUS. First, I was called and completed a phone screen. After successfully moving on, the next step was a 1-on-1 interview. And lastly, was a panel interview. I did end up receiving a job offer, however I decided to decline.
As a designer, it is important to be flexible and have a variety of design skill sets. However, this position is a one person show. The CEO, on top of expecting you to be the one and only designer, also expects you to be the company’s photographer, web designer, social media consultant, IT department, and administrative assistant. I was also told they had an entire marketing team containing multiple designers in the past, but he fired them all after “it failed miserably." It really seemed as though they’re looking to save a few bucks and work some poor designer to the bone. Also, the CEO kept making fun of a previous designer saying that she was “a lazy Mexican” and every time he told her to do something, he joked that she would say, “That’s not my yob.”
In conclusion, this job position is unfortunately looking to over work and underpay designers. Those applying, beware.
